CD Grading Guide

buyroms condition guide

We’re committed to transparency and accuracy when listing our vintage CDs. Here’s how we grade each item so you know exactly what to expect when it shows up at your door.

Disc Grading

  • Mint (M): Perfect condition. Unplayed. No marks or scuffs—basically looks like it just came off the factory line.

  • Near Mint (NM or M-): Played minimally, if at all. No scratches. Super clean and sounds flawless.

  • Very Good Plus (VG+): May have a couple of light scuffs or hairline marks, but plays perfectly with no issues.

  • Very Good (VG): Shows some visible signs of use like light scratches, but still plays through without skipping. Some surface noise might be present in quieter moments.

  • Good (G) / Good Plus (G+): Noticeable wear, scratches, or scuffs. Still plays, but not a flawless listen. Best for collectors looking to complete a set on a budget.

Case & Artwork Grading

  • Mint (M): Looks brand new. No cracks, fading, or wear. Booklet is crisp.

  • Near Mint (NM or M-): Nearly perfect. Maybe a tiny scuff or fingerprint, but nothing distracting.

  • Very Good Plus (VG+): Light wear on the case or minor signs of aging on the insert/booklet. All intact and presentable.

  • Very Good (VG): More noticeable wear—like a few cracks in the case or creases in the booklet—but still complete and functional.

  • Good (G) / Good Plus (G+): Heavier wear or damage to case/booklet. Still usable, but more for the music than the display.
